
Amber Wong Obituary Gulfport-Amber Robinson Wong.,67 died Sunday, February 9, 2025, in Gulfport. Amber was a native of Gulfport, born at Memorial Hospital of Gulfport on August, 29, 1957, but lived in various locations across the United States due to her father's employment. She attended Yuba City High School in Yuba City, CA, and took classes at Yuba College. Amber was a strong-willed, free spirit who loved to travel and tell stories. She had a diverse career history, including working for JCPenney's corporate and Mary Kay Cosmetics. Later, she earned her Commercial Driver's License and transitioned to the truck driving industry after relocating to the Mississippi Gulf Coast. After a personal injury, she retired from trucking and rebounded with a new career in domestic services at the Gulfport Federal Courthouse, earning Goodwill Employee of the Year in 2011. Amber had a deep love and respect for Chinese culture and loved hobbies such as crochet, cross stitch, reading, bowling, horticulture, computer games, and watching period and true crime shows. She never met a stranger and went out of her way to help those in need gain the knowledge they needed to succeed. Amber was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Lewis Robinson Sr. and Doles Ilene (Gottlich) Robinson; her brother, Baby Boy Robinson (1958); her niece, Catrina I. (Robinson) Tuscano of Elk Grove, CA; and her first ex-husband, Talburt Wong. She is survived by her children, Julie (Brett) Barentine and Christina (Robert) Meyer, who reside in Southern California, and Larry (Ashleigh) Wayne Scott Jr. of Gulfport, MS. Her sister, Celia (Brian) Rayburn of Gulfport, MS, and her brother, Robert (Sharon) Lewis Robinson Jr. of Elk Grove, CA, also survive her. Additionally, she is survived by four grandchildren, Izaya Kai Barentine, Rowen Bryan Meyer, Charleston Orion Scott, and Austyn Lane Cook; nieces Crystal M. Robinson and Siobhan Ilene Binnaz Rayburn; a nephew, Connor Dante Alexander Rayburn; and two great-grand nephews. She also leaves behind many members of her extended family, numerous friends, and the Sister Missionaries from the LDS Church of Gulfport. Her family thanks Coastal Health and Rehabilitation Center in Gulfport for providing a comfortable, supportive, and caring space for her to call home in her final years, Gentiva Hospice for all their support, and Marshall Funeral Home and Cremations of Biloxi, MS for their assistance with her final preparations.
