Earl Clay Notestine

Earl Clayton Notestine III

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Clay E. Notestine III, who passed away at his home on January 7, 2025. He was 68 years old.

Clay was born in Yuba City, CA, on November 24, 1956, to parents, Earl Clayton Notestine Jr., and Patricia J. LaGrand.

He attended grammar school and high school in Yuba City, CA.

Clay was a mason for many years, putting his skills in laying brick through the Yuba-Sutter areas.

Clay enjoyed and had a real passion in diving. He dove for abalone in Fort Bragg for many years. He eventually became a certified diving instructor.

His hobbies were collecting all sorts of antiques, marbles, buttons, yo-yo's, hot wheels, you name it, he collected it.

Clay was a beloved friend, a kind soul, and a person whose generosity knew no bounds. Throughout his life, he demonstrated an unwavering commitment to those he cared about, always ready to lend a hand, offer a listening ear, or share his wisdom. He also had a gift of making people laugh.

Clay's warmth, kindness, and quiet strength, will be missed deeply by all who knew him, and a reminder that the greatest gift we can give each other is our time and our hearts.

Clay is survived by his companion, of 30 years, Anita Soto; her daughter Nicole Cunningham; her mother, Francis J. Soto, who she considered a loving son; Armando, Irene, and Elena Soto, whom they considered a devoted brother; his two cats, Nino and Nina, whom he loved dearly; his sister, Cathy Hudson of Yuba City, CA; brother, Tommy Notestine; numerous nieces and nephews; along with countless friends who were fortunate enough to experience the depth of his friendship.

He is preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; two brothers, Randy and Jaime Notestine; and a sister, Debbie Notestine.

In honor of Clay's memory, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In closing, I know in my heart Clay would tell everyone "don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened."
