It is great sadness that I post of Terry Short's passing. Below is his obit from this morning Appeal Democrat, along with a private message from his cousin Jim Short letting me/us know how & why Terry passed. I would hope any of you go post a message to the family in his obit of your connections, rememberances of Terry, they would appreciate that.

Terry Lynn Short Obituary
Terry Lynn Short, a retired corporal with the Sutter County Sheriff's Department, passed away on Monday, November 7, 2016, surrounded by his family. Terry was born to Leon and Laura Fern Fuller Short in Ukiah, California, on June 13, 1956, and was a resident of Yuba City for more than 58 years.
Terry began his career with the sheriff's department as a cadet at the age of 16. At age 18, he became a dispatcher, while continuing his education at Yuba Community College, and at the age of 20, after attending the Butte Community Police Academy, he was hired as a Sutter County deputy sheriff. Until his retirement in 2003, he held numerous positions within the department, including detective, range master, SWAT team member, and K-9 officer before reaching the rank of corporal.
Terry spent his free time hunting, camping, and volunteering for community events sponsored by the sheriff's department. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend.
Terry was preceded in death by his father Leon, sister Sharon, and his loyal K-9 partner, Budman.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Kathy, daughter Stacy Short, son Casey Short, and daughter Katie Short Stapleton (Conor), all of Yuba City, as well as his mother Fern, and sister, Debbie Redmond, also of Yuba City, and his brother Bryon of Alturas, California. Terry adored his grandchildren, who will deeply miss him as well - Taylor, Alena, and MacKenzie, all of Yuba City.
Funeral services for Terry will be held at Ullrey's Funeral Home in Yuba City on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at 11:00 AM, with interment services to follow at the Sutter Cemetery in Sutter, California.
