Douglas Wander

Douglas Stephen Wander died quietly of cancer in his home near Marysville on January 10th. He was 51.

Mr. Wander was born in Nebraska and came to Yuba City with his parents in 1967. At age 15 he was paralyzed from the shoulders down in a car wreck and spent the rest of his life in a wheelchair. In spite of this, he graduated from Cal Northern School of Law and practiced Law the rest of his life. He developed innovative ways of using a voice-activated computer to manage his cases and present them in court. He loved raising their son, John and two nieces, Genneth lawas and Liza Lipscomb. He greatly enjoyed reading, playing chess and visiting with his many friends.
Mr. Wander is survived by his devoted wife, Cita; son, John; father and step-mother, Harry and Rose Wander of Nevada City; brothers Geoffrey Wander of Yuba City and Gregory Wander of Payette, Idaho; step-brother Darin Wilson of Durham; step-sister, Lisa Wilson of Nevada City; four nieces, four nephews and two great-nephews and one great-niece. 

Mr. Wander was preceded in death by his mother, Eunice Bonnell; his sister, Evelyn Wander plus six other siblings who died at birth.
Visitation will start at 5 PM and a Rosary Service at 7 PM at Ullrey Memorial Chapel in Yuba City on Friday, January 16. This will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Marysville at 10 AM on Saturday, January 17. Inurnment will be at Sierra View Cemetery on a later date.
